about
We all have dealt with our Monsters.
Monsters under your bed or in your closet as a kid. An abusive person in your life. Someone who has abused their authority over you. A boss or political figure. I thought of women who are stuck in the sex trade while writing this song. Usually this person ruling over you treats you this way to have their power trip or they need to keep you low so they can get to where they’re going. I want to see people build others up to surpass themselves and find joy in seeing others succeed……..Or maybe the inspiration came from this particular season in my life where Bill collectors are blowing me up :/ Bahaha!
lyrics
Words are half of your love
Only you can prove what you’re made of
Blood always stains
It’s in your house. You’ve been framed
Lift:
Can not this wait
Your fortune and your fame
Chorus:
Don’t take this away
Oh you monsters, oh you Monsters
Tormented by the wolves of our day
oh you monsters, oh you monsters
figures lurk in the dark
abandoned possessions
A guarded heart
Faces carved in stone
Men on their horses
Raiding homes
(Bridge)
Lift your voices and your heads
(BGV repeats)
You can fight them You can win
(BGV repeats)
Father bless your days
Hear your cries by night
When you pray
Not this way
Your fortune
Your fame
(BGV:ma ma ma ma monsters)
Stark, folk-derived songs built on brittle acoustic guitars that conjure the image of a fire burning in the distance on a dark night. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 8, 2022
